2023-2024 ATHLETIC INFORMATION

 
If you are interested in trying out for or competing in a competitive sport at Harriet Eddy during the 2023-2024 school year, please read the following.
 
  • All forms must be completed and turned in online to the Athletics Director BEFORE a student may tryout, practice, or compete.
  • The bottom half of the Sports Physical form must be completed by a Health Care Provider (MD, DO, PA, or NP.)
    • ALL PHYSICAL EXAMS MUST BE DATED AFTER MAY 1ST, 2023.
 
A new packet must be completed and submitted for each school year in which you want to participate in athletics.
Only one packet is necessary each year, even if participating in multiple sports.
 
Competitive sports teams at HEMS are:
  • FALL
    • 7/8 Grade COED Cross Country (August/October)
    • 7/8 Grade Girls Volleyball (August/October)
  • WINTER
    • 8th Grade Boys Basketball  (Nov/Dec)
    • 8th Grade Girls Basketball  (Nov/Dec)
    • 7/8 Grade COED Wrestling  (Nov/Feb)
    • 7th Grade Boys Basketball  (Jan/Feb)
    • 7th Grade Girls Basketball  (Jan/Feb)
  • SPRING
    • 7/8 Grade Boys Volleyball  (March/May)
    • 7/8 Grade COED Track and Field (March/May)
 
The above dates are tentative and subject to change. All teams will practice at HEMS and will complete against other middle school students within the district both on and off site. Transportation to off-site games is the responsibility of parents/guardians unless otherwise noted. All student-athletes must be picked up immediately following both practices and competitions.

COMPETITIVE SPORTS GUIDELINES

Any student-athlete who wishes to participate in an athletic activity in the Elk Grove Unified School District must meet the following requirements:
 
  • Have earned a “C” average (2.0 GPA) with no F's in their overall district academic program for the grade of record prior to their participation and for each succeeding grade of record of progress report during participation.
  • Meet standards of satisfactory citizenship (No U's.)
  • Have a satisfactory attendance record as defined by Board Policy.
